beware of this guy

Post by wndsofchng06 »

William Roberts. 614-359-2283. Office @ 50 E long street, Columbus, OH. I admit I was foolish to so easily send money, but I was blinded with excitement to find the parts I needed. He was on Craigslist. Here I sit 3 weeks later out $400 and still no parts! Buyer beware, I learned the hard way. In almost 20 years of handshake deals, this is my first burn.

That sucks!!! Hope you do get your parts . I'm always a little worried that a deal want go thru because of some thief. I thought i got screwed once but i think the young guy just procrastinated about getting the part in the mail.

I Know the Feeling, You usually don't run into people like this. Most car guys are stand up individuals, but you find them in every walk of life. Its to bad they are out there.

Too bad you got burned, but don't let one individual taint your perspective of people. I moved to a small town (5,000) about 15 years ago from a much larger city (100,000) and I was pleased to see the difference in how people do business. A handshake is good here, so is a man's word. If I make a deal to have some work done by a local, say trimming a bunch of trees, he tells me how much and we verbally agree. In the city where I came from you would have to sign a contract and give a deposit, I don't miss that at all. The guy you sent the $400 to is the one who is the real loser, he can't trust anyone because that is his experience with people (himself).

Description: Ohio Attorney General
May 28, 2015

Re: William Roberts
Complaint #: 839806

Dear Mr Herman:

We must regretfully inform you we cannot be of assistance in your dispute against the above-named supplier as we are unable to locate them. Once wired funds are received it becomes extremely difficult to locate the individual(s) responsible and to recover the money lost. Often times the money is picked up with a fake or stolen ID, making the true identity of the person nearly impossible to identify.

If you have information which may help locate their whereabouts please contact our office with that information. Without sufficient information to locate the individual(s) who may be held responsible we will not be able to pursue this complaint. Your file is closed and a copy of your complaint will remain in our complaint retention system.

Thank you for bringing this matter to the attention of the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Section. We are sorry we could not be of more assistance to you.

Respectfully,

MIKE DEWINE
Attorney General of Ohio
