Re: rear frame gas tank
Hi,
There are many options for this project. Depends on how much modification you want to do. I've even read of 35gal Suburban tank used
I installed a 16gal Poly tank in my 1970 F250 4x4 under the bed, between the frame rails. It was used in 1970 Scouts. Had to relocate 1 cross member between the frame rails. One advantage to this tank is that the float/sending unit is compatible with Ford gas gauges. This tank fills from the side so the filler neck is on the side of the bed. I think the Mustang tank fills from the top.

Here's that thread on installing the Mustang tank in the rear frame rails.

Another possibility is the '73 to '77-1/2 4WD F250 tank. Those frames were the same with as ours but had the option of a rear frame mount fuel tank.
