This is unacceptable behavior and if you persist you will be banned. As stated in your warning, there is no reason to send a new member away because their question isn't within the scope of '67-'72 Ford trucks.HIO Silver wrote:Nope. You're on the wrong website.. this here is for 67-72s.

To the OP (if you ever come back), I'll try to answer this once I think about it a bit.

Really? I understand this site to be for 67-72 Ford trucks. I simply provide a resource where the OP would have a better chance at his question being answered.Ranchero50 wrote:This is unacceptable behavior and if you persist you will be banned. I'd appreciate a clarification on the intent and purpose of "The FORDification.com Forums -The 1967-1972 Ford F-series Pickup Resource" if whether it is applicable to Ford trucks not within those years.

Re: 93 F150 4.9L E4OD
HIO Silver, I look at this site as a community, a family if you'd like. We are all here to help one another with whatever troubles arise. When I read a new topic, my mindset is that this is a guy broke down on the side of the road on in a gas station parking lot asking for help. By the nature and finality of your reply, you spoke for this community and told this guy to go get lost, not our problem. Actually you performed one of the greatest sins imaginable, sending someone to FTE.
But low and behold, he's already been there from March 13 to the present: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/13688 ... -6cyl.html and that great resource of ads, trackers, spam and browser cookies couldn't help him out.
The simple fact that you posted 'Nope. You're on the wrong website.' pisses me off far worse than the cross linking.
So the real question is, 'What are you going to do to make it right?' You have 17 bazillian posts on FTE so I'm sure you'll be able to help him out. Even has the same name there so it should be easy. Heck, I even cross linked the original thread thanks to your non sense.

Re: 93 F150 4.9L E4OD
Ranchero,
I appreciate the insight on your philosophy about Fordification about being a community. However, my understanding by the title and purpose of this website and its forums that it is intended for 67-72 F-Series trucks and that is what defines “the community”. I was not aware nor did I find in the forum guidelines that discussions about F-Series trucks significantly outside of the bounds of the years stated herein were permissible and appropriate. It would also be logical for us to conclude that 73s should be discussed in the 73-79 Fordification.net website rather than in this Bumpside forum. I recall more than once Dentside-related posts being referred to the Fordification.net forum instead with no repercussions to the responder.
And I did not tell the OP to “go away” but rather pointed to an alternate resource. I will refrain from crosslinking to FTE. You may conclude that I spoke for the forum in stating that it is for 67-72s but that conclusion is solidly based on the tagline of this site’s banner which clearly states that is the resource for 67-72s – not 73-79s nor 80-96 trucks. I feel I have been unfairly admonished based on some silent policies and unpublished mantra of the site’s norms. If the community goes beyond the 67-72s, then it would be helpful for us members to be informed about the site’s philosophy with regards to extending technical help and information on non-Bump vehicles. However, I believe doing so would lead to forum clutter and result in the loss of focus of the 67-72 F-Series trucks.
Thanks for your consideration.
Respectfully submitted,
H/S

This place has always been as Jamie says, we are friends here, friends help friends. We do and have discussed many things outside of 67-72 Ford Trucks. For certain most anything FORD has been fair ground, we've talked BMWs, Motorcycles and much other stuff. There is a fairly significant knowledge base for a myriad of things.
Too people swap FI 300's and other engines into Bumps so in that sense the answers might help someone down the road. That goes for 5.0's and other stuff too.
We don't have a lot of rules / guidelines not do we often get involved beyond spam/fighting and so forth.
Sometimes it is not what you say but how you say it, I'll say that your reply to the OP came off to me as very abrupt, it might as well say "go away". Regardless of the intent that is how it looks. Sometimes things do not come across the way we think they do. Certainly a new member deserves some more care.HIO Silver wrote:And I did not tell the OP to “go away” but rather pointed to an alternate resource. I will refrain from crosslinking to FTE. I know you are aware of the feeling here RE: FTE because as is sometimes apt to happen it degraded into name calling on another thread not that long ago. Keith has information here about it as well. Not everything that went down is in that post, such as the fact that many members here were banned from FTE for nothing more than posting on FORDification (me for instance) some of that may still be over on the runboard forum. Folks can say "But Ken doesn't own it anymore" or "It was a long time ago" or even that we are "myopic" but the fact remains that no one from over there has apologized (or unbanned us) and links to FTE are persona non grata as far as I am concerned. I doubt that posting a link back here in ~25% of your replies as well as your signature would be tolerated at all over there.
Just spending a little time around here should reveal the culture (AKA philosophy, mantra, norms) of the site. For example we have a smilie holding an FTE SUCKS sign - seems pretty clear to me, at least on that point.

I'm going to move this out of the original thread and lock it for the time being.

Re: 93 F150 4.9L E4OD
As I live in the nanny state locally known as the Socialist Republik of Marylandistand when I read this wall of text I feel I am dealing with a liberal or possibly a libertarian who is the reason there are too many dang foolish laws / rules and who has no idea how foolish they're logic appears to the overall majority of the members of the community. Simply put, quit trying to be a nanny. Quit trying to justify your mistake and just move along.HIO Silver wrote:Ranchero,

Of course you never did go to the thread on FTE and try to help the guy out. Heck, you could have even just copied my reply and posted it as your own but nope, You're still here whining that we are being mean to you. You sir, have no idea how mean a pissed off moderator can be nor how easy it is to change all of your posts.
Just think, you are on the verge of being the third legitimate member to get banned from this site in 11 years.
