Wierd discovery (late-model bumpside)

Post by mybros71 »

Apparently the F-100 bumpside was in production in Brazil for a few years after '72:

Brazil Ford also made the smart move of NEVER hooking up with navistar and offering Cummins engines as standard equipment in thier trucks.

They have all kinds of cool stuff we don't have.

I'd like to go down there with a fist-full-o-cash and try to score some hard to find parts.

There are a few members on here from Brazil, I was going to order a grill from them, but when we got adding in taxes and shipping, it was driving the price to around 800 dollars or so. I just couldn't see paying that much but lord wouldn't it be cool to have one!

I'm not questioning your info but from what I have gathered they don't have Cummins engines but MWM which is now majority owned by Navistar. There is a guy in town here who used to live in South America and he told me the same. MWM are supposed to be really good engines from what I've read. Just my :2cents:

Foreign Wikipedia has some info on it: http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_F-1000.

It says they were produced from 1979 - 1995. Production ended due to new model Rangers, but poor sales led to the return of the F1000 for 1996 - 1998.

Translated very roughly by Google =

Years 70 and 80

The start of production of pickup F-1000 MWM diesel engine 3.9 hp with 86.4 in 1979, was actually a continuation of the Ford F-100, it used the same chassis and the same body, with a few changes. In 1985 version was manufactured F-1000 SSS (Super Special Series) F-1000A and version 3.6 with alcohol engine 6 cylinder (115 hp). The restyling front with four rectangular headlights came in 1986. In 1988 the rear axle has been resized and taillights similar to that of Pampa. The engine is replaced by the 3.6 petrol version and currency option for the five-speed diesel engine from 1989.
[Edit] 90 Years

In 1990 the F-1000 was the first pickup with turbo diesel with 119 hp. In 1991 he began to have the fuel tank in polyethylene plastic, with a capacity of 114 liters.

The turbodiesel engine redesign and a little more potent, with 122.4 hp, came in early 1992. And 4x4 extended cab (SuperCab), with additional 56 cm and a rear bench for three persons were changes in 1994. 4.9i engine six-cylinder in-line with electronic injection with 148 hp in 1995, which would be his last year of manufacture, it would be substiuida by Ranger, but as his rival princiapal launched the S-10, and Ranger was not as successful Starting soon, in 1996 Ford went back to making the model, but with all 1997 model, for which there is no question that the 1996 model year.

In 1997 changes were refinishing in appearance, more rounded lines and smooth, wider grille, headlights with the lights down direction, XL and XLT models equipped with the 2.5 engine of Maxion HSD, turbocharged and intercooled. The special Lightning Series engine with 4.9 liters of petrol in 1998, and also the model most strongest diesel engine that already has equipped the engine with 133cv 4.10 X10 MWM. In the same year halted production and its successor was the F-250 pickup that began production the following year.

The little stuff is MWM rangers/F150's.

That's a Brazilian Built Ford with the standard engine option- HPCR intercooled 4BT and ZF 5 speed
