Just wanted to throw out an update, I saw the Green Gas Monkey F100 with KC and a few other crew members today. I only found this thread because I remembered the truck "selling" at auction. I don't have any inside info, but figured I'd let you guys know of the sighting.

Yeah, it was a crown victoria front end. It is a pretty popular swap and is documented on this site in numerous build threads. Look for "CV swap" in the title as that is usually what it is referred as.

I enjoy watching this show, especially when they build f100s or when I spot one in the background. They have built some preety cool rides...but yeah the 67-72 f100s they build really draw my attention since I own one too.

I could not find anywhere where the bed size of this truck is listed, does anybody know if this was the factory 6ft or 8ft bed or some one off Gas Monkey Special?

thanks in advance.

If you are talking about the truck(s) that Gas Monkey has done, they were all factory short beds... The smaller 6 foot beds.

My 15 minutes of fame were on FastNLoud. I was in the episode where they bought my great uncle's Aston Martin and the Nash-Healeys, then again when they fixed and sold the 1918 Nash. Im the fat guy in overalls. My lab white bump can be seen in the background on location. The guys were fun to hang with. Stayed up late the night before doing Patron Shots at the local Mexican place. They liked my 53 IH as well.

I will send pics if I can figure out how to resize them on this POS Mac

I watched that episode and saw your bump parked in the background near the garage/shed when you were all walking that direction. :D

Anybody know if the frame itself is any different between the 67-72 F-100 and F-250 and between a 6.5 foot bed and 8 foot bed truck?

E.G.:
Can I put a 6.5 bed on a truck that came with a 8 foot bed without having to saw off a foot and a half of the frame?

Would it be a bolt on operation?

thinking about doing this to my 67 f-250 camper special.

thanks in advance.

Our trucks actually came with a 6 foot or 8 foot bed. It is not 6 1/2. And the frames themselves between swb truck and lwb trucks have a 2 foot difference. So if you were wanting to convert a lwb truck to a short bed, then you will either have to find a new frame, or do some cutting and welding. Both have been done on this site and you can find threads with both conversions if you search for it.

Obviously, finding a swb donor truck and doing a frame and bed swap is the easier way to go, but actually finding a swb donor is a chore in and of itself. So good luck either way. Chopping a bed and frame is way more work than I personally would attempt, but it has been done and there are plenty of thread with pictures here on this site to use as reference.
