Re: Gas Monkey / Fast and Loud show
Fact is that it never sold at an auction, it is still here in dallas ft worth. The auction was fake and the guys that own the shop still have the truck. My buddy took pics of it at a car show in Arlington a few weeks ago. You should see the carpet in it. wrong size by about two inches on each side. Oh, and for entertainment purposes; do a search on the head guy in that show. He is no angel.

I always enjoy the back story behind the 'show' but I don't take the story line too seriously. I enjoyed it for entertainment purposes and that it reflects a lot of the talent and ideas that originated on this site. I don't like or need any more drama in my life so I miss the days of the project being more important than the personalities...

I am simply posting the facts as most people who watch these shows believe these stupid timelines and results. The truck has some nice features and I have been told the paint is very nice as well. I like the look of the truck.
YOU sound like you have a problem with me posting some FACTS that people other than you might be interested in hearing. Things that prove these reality shows are not all what they are cracked up to be and not all the vehicle are what the show portrays.

Yes, I called out the auction as BS myself. Hard to believe someone would pay $50,000 for a truck sight unseen, with no pre auction inspection. It makes for good drama TV though. Bad a$$ truck no matter which way you look at it.

Anyone see the '64 Impala episode? Nice car, but the underside of the hood wasn't even painted!

and it still had the dirt and grease built up on it from 48 yrs of driving also. They could of at least cleaned it. I would hate to see how they do rust repair. Just filler up with bondo,no sanding, cutting out rust or even cleaning dirt off,and paint. I would hate to have bought a car from them and then seen some of the shows. It would really make you wonder what you really have under that pretty paint, but it will show up in a year or two.

We was in there last month and got to look around. They do some pretty nice work. Also got to take a look at the shop truck. Its just a clean, nothing really special Crown Vic swap with a injected 5.0 but I'd sure like to have it

Re: Gas Monkey / Fast and Loud show
I like the show. My biggest issue is the language to be honest. Richard seems like a guy I would not hang out with. Aaron I like. I am sure there is so hype because it is TV, but all in all, my boys and I enjoy it. Good entertainment and at a minimum, the thought of buying an old car/truck and fixing it up and selling it intrigues me.

I find it interesting how acmerodshop hasn't replied back to any questions yet. I don't mean to call anyone out, but acmerod...did they REALLY sell it, or did they fake it for TV.

Re: Gas Monkey / Fast and Loud show
Anyone see it the other night? Apparently they sold the bump shop truck to a guy from Britain for $20,000. Seemed strange to me that the guy would just call up out of the blue wanting their particular truck, but okay. Don't get me wrong, I'd want it too; but the circumstances just seemed odd.
The other weird thing was when Richard bought a '67 Corvette Stingray and was going on and on about how it was a "435HP 427 with three deuces", then when he's selling it, the camera shows a two-second shot of the engine and it's clearly a small block with a single 4-barrel Holley. Maybe they were just trying to add suspense to the show, saying they found a rare big block '67 Vette. Two seconds is more than enough time to tell a big block from a small block though. They must think we're dummies.

I did see that I still love the show weather its fake or not. I look at it like this, what else do we have to watch now a days? They build cars/trucks like we all do an its fun to watch others build the same stuff we love to see. I love anything to do with cars an if i can sit on my butt drink a few beers an watch it on tv to get me motivated then by all means im gonna watch it its either this or 16 an prego or that jersey shore crud69timemachine wrote:The other weird thing was when Richard bought a '67 Corvette Stingray and was going on and on about how it was a "435HP 427 with three deuces", then when he's selling it, the camera shows a two-second shot of the engine and it's clearly a small block with a single 4-barrel Holley. Re: Gas Monkey / Fast and Loud show
These shows are not made for or by people that actually know cars. I'm not talking about the the ones working in the shops or the few like us, but the ones producing, cutting and most the ones watching. From what I've seen of the show Richard is pretty much the stereo typical salesmen, so anything he says I would take with a whole shaker of salt.69timemachine wrote:Anyone see it the other night? Re: Gas Monkey / Fast and Loud show
Oh, I wholeheartedly agree. There isn't much on tv that is good to watch these days, so we have to take whatever we can get when it comes to car shows. Don't get me wrong, I like "FNL" and "Counting Cars" for the entertainment they provide, I just think the things they say and the situations they get into are funny and/or weird sometimes. We could make a pretty good game out of pointing out all the inconsistencies we see on tv shows, huh?CrypticRacer13 wrote: I did see that I still love the show weather its fake or not. Re: Gas Monkey / Fast and Loud show
The timing seems a little off but...I do remember a guy from across the pond coming to the site here that had bought a bump in Texas sight unseen, (white truck if memory serves me correctly). If someone can get the search engine to work for them-you'll probably find the thread.69timemachine on Wed Oct 03, 2012 11:05 pm
